When developers write your land-use plan: look out!

The Charles County Comprehensive Plan holds the key to Mattawoman's future.  After a good start revising the plan, things are now backsliding (see Our Issues). 

With public input, smart growth scenarios were being developed by the professional planning staff and their consultants. But now, a slim majority on the Charles County Planning Commission is forwarding a plan that is actually based on one devised by land speculators.  Read an outstanding account of what's happening at The Chesapeake Bay Action Plan here.
