Volunteers for the Mattawoman Watershed Society were surprised when a committee with the Charles County Arts Alliance arrived at their tent on June 7 to deliver the 1st Place award for having the most beautiful tent. This year, MWS offered hands-on children's activities, and explained to attendees that a good comprehensive growth plan would be good not only for our waters, but for everyone. Unfortunately, even with Mattawoman at the "tipping point" for serious degradation from the polluted runoff of runaway growth, a majority of the Charles County commissioners still favor unbridled development.
