The Mattawoman Watershed Society presented "Citizen Monitoring Activities" at the 7th Stream Roundtable held in Annopolis on February 27, 2014. The roundtable is sponsored by the Maryland Water Monitoring Council to permit state and local governments and watershed groups to share information about monitoring activities throughout Maryland.

MWS annually monitors habitat usage by migratory fish by collecting eggs (pictured) and larvae during spring spawning runs. We also participate in the Stream Waders program sponsored by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, a program that determines stream health by assessing the assemblage of critters that inhabit the stream bottom. Finally, we have conducted a survey of dissolved oxygen in the freshwater-tidal estuary for the Maryland Fisheries Service.
