Globally Rare Bog Threatened

The large Guilford subdivision proposed for Bryans Road may spell the beginning of the end for Charles County's last unspoiled Magnolia Bog. This plant community merits  the rarest designation possible: globally imperiled, or "G1" as conservation biologists see it.

The enormous subdivision would also spoil the rural character around the town of Bryans Road and increase traffic 60% on a Billingsley Road. Yet developers use traffic on this road as an excuse when they agitate for the costly Cross County Connector.

More information on the Guilford project is here.
